WALNUT

3 months to 18 months

The Babies have a stimulating, warm, caring and secure environment. We have a lovely spacious baby room for our youngest children, comprised of a room to play and explore a sleep room with cots and free access to their very own outside area. We hold a variety of activities such as messy play, music time, heuristic play, treasure baskets, sensory areas and plenty of play opportunities, indoor and out.

BIRCH

18 months to 2 years

The Teenies in this room are provided with space as they begin to show an increasing independence and obvious pleasure in moving, communicating and learning through play. We also include various other activities such as arts and crafts, heuristic play, music and movement, exploratory areas and plenty of opportunity for free play both indoors and outside.

CEDAR

2 to 3 years

Our Toddler Room caters for all the messy activities 2 to 3 year olds love to enjoy: arts and crafts, sand and water play, cornflower, play dough and many more. At this age children display a greater competence at moving and talking and pretending and the room includes areas like their home corner and book corner to encourage this. The children can explore and learn throughout their day without too much pressure.

OAK

3 to 5 years

This Pre-school room is our newest addition to the Nursery. Opening in February 2016, this is a purpose built room with its own kitchen, cloakroom and toilet facilities with direct access to the garden. We promote a natural and stimulating environment both inside and out to allow children the time to explore the world around them at their own pace. We aim to achieve a sensible balance between free and structured activities designed to encourage language, confidence and independence. Our curriculum is based on our own childcare best practices and is underpinned by the Department for Education’s framework for children under five, Development Matters.

Forest School

All ages

We believe the outdoors is also one of our Rooms. The Manager, Charlie, is Forest School qualified and takes the children out weekly to explore the wonderful outdoor space we have on our doorstep at Bowthorpe Hall. The many benefits of Forest School include providing the children with an opportunity to learn in an outdoor environment. It helps children to appreciate and understand our environment and nature, as well as build on their confidence and social skills.
