ABOUT US

OUR STORY

It was in late 2012 that nursery proprietors Rachel and Aaron Kelly first saw the old Annex on the grounds of the Bowthorpe Hall estate and knew straight away that it would make the perfect setting for their nursery. With two small children of their own, they were attracted to the character of the property, the amazing garden space, and the peaceful location.

OUR TEAM

Leadership & Management is fundamental to our success, which comes from the organisation and commitment of the management team. Our philosophy is one of open door management, relying on the co-operation and collaboration of our staffing team. The nursery proprietor, Rachel Kelly, oversees general administration and ongoing development of the nursery. She is supported by the Nursery Manager Charlie Wilson-Boast who has over 20 years’ experience in childcare and the Deputy Manager, Shelley Bond who has over 10 years within the childcare sector. Supported by the rest of the Nursery staff, the Management team are responsible for the curriculum, the Early Years Foundation Stage, observations and planning, key person development and child transition through the nursery and onto school. The nursery employs a further 16 permanent members of staff who are qualified in Early Years, some of whom assist in the delivering the dedicated areas including Safeguarding, SENCO and Transitions.

OUR POLICIES

A successful nursery is combination of skilled and caring people with efficient and effective key policies. We acknowledge that our key policies and procedures are fundamental to ensuring we maintain the highest standards at all times. There are over 65 policies and procedures that govern the way we operate our nursery and these will be openly published to parents, carers and Ofsted alike. These include health and safety, equal opportunities, child behaviour, parent partnership, staffing, nursery operations and child protection.

Our policy content is provided by management and staff, and also by referring to third party organisations such as the NDNA, who keep a library of best practice documents. Our Policy document can be viewed here and we welcome parent and carer feedback to any of our policies.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding and child protection at our nursery is a vital element of our daily practice. Our staff are trained to understand our safeguarding policy and procedures, as well as to know exactly what to do in any given situation where a child’s safety and welfare may be at risk. In addition to this, we have Safeguarding Leads at nursery to support any concerns. Our Safeguarding poster can be viewed here.

SENCO
The role of the SENCO is to support early identification and intervention for children with special educational needs and for you to talk to us about any concerns you may have about your child’s development. We will:
• Record and document the process for all children and those with an individual education plans (Support Plans)
• Liaise and work with parents
• Liaise with outside agencies with respect to a child's special educational needs (SEN)
• We will ensure a smooth transition onwards and onto school.
Our Lead SENCO practitioners are Jenna, Charlie and Shelley
